AOMCHS Background

The Alpharetta & Old Milton County Historical Society has been dedicated to preserving the rich history of Alpharetta and the former Milton County since its founding in 1979. Originally established as the Old Milton County Historical and Genealogical Society, the organization was incorporated in 1980 under the name Alpharetta, Old Milton County, Georgia, Historical and Genealogical Society. In 1994, it was re-incorporated as the Alpharetta & Old Milton County Historical Society, Inc., reflecting its enduring commitment to historical preservation. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the Society plays a vital role in collecting, preserving, and sharing accurate historical records and artifacts. Through educational programs, exhibits, and community outreach, the Society ensures that the legacy of Alpharetta and Old Milton County is accessible to present and future generations.
